WASPS ARTISTS OPEN STUDIOS

This event will be taking part all over Scotland on the 3rd and 4th October 2009, check out www.waspsstudios.org.uk/ I will be at the Dundee Wasps Artist Open Studios as well as 27 other artists, designers and craft makers, all in the one building. There will be drop in art sessions from 2pm to 4pm on the 3rd floor corridor by artist Volker Rosenberg. There will be an exhibition in the White Space and work for sale. It’s a great event, come along and support us. Hope to see you there.

1st August to 9th of August is a fantastic Arts Festival in Pittenweem, it’s so picturesque and it amazing lots of the houses, churches, halls are used as exhibition spaces. My scarves are going to be in The Coach House Gallery – venue 19. I hope you can go along, it’s a great day out.

Visit to Perth

Buth Bheag I

I took myself to Perth for the afternoon to take some silk scarves and silk cards to Buth Bheag (Boo Vake) on 5 Watergate. It ‘s such a funky little craft shop with scottish designer, check out the website www.boovake.co.uk. If you’re in Perth it’s worth a look! I went to see the exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery called ‘a passion for painting pattern’ by Raymond Honeyman, it’s great to see him still using a brush to design – keep those hand crafted skills going! I also visited the new Tayberry gallery and Frames both excellent. A lovely afternoon away for the studio.

Tunnock Teacakes

I love this bag I got as a present from a friend who knows me well! I love tunnocks teacakes! I love the stripey wrapper – it’s a design classic! The designer/maker of the bag is a girl called Gillian Kyle based in Glasgow, she screen printed bags and aprons. The one I got is foil printed. Other in the range include other nostalgic scottish things – spam, scottish plain bread, scottie dogs and highland coos, sporrans . Did you know tunnocks have a I dark chocolate version of the teacake, with a navy blue and gold wrapper. My one was bought in the DCA shop in Dundee. Check out her website www.gilliankyle.com
