I’m always inspired in the great outdoors so being asked to create an illustration for Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort Festive Brochure was perfect match for me and my work.
They wanted to do something different and part of my job is to capture the essence of the place and to bring their vision into reality.
The process involved an initial meeting to discuss the brief which allowed me to really understand their vision and I went away buzzing with ideas. I did some research which involved eating dellicious carrot cake on the decking in the sunshine, took some photos, then got busy sketching, getting my ideas down on paper. From hearing about Forbes of Kingennie I was inspired by the Boathouse and how important it is at the heart of the story. We had a meeting to see my ideas and sketches and without hesitation the final idea was chosen, as it really captured their vision and they loved my take on the romance of the boathouse with the mistletoe.
It’s great to see the brochures all printed up and it’s it’s lovely how the mistletoe is used throughout.
Forbes of a Kingennie is a picturesque place with lovely countryside feel and it’s not to far from Dundee. There’s a host of things they offer – obviously delicious carrot cake, space for events, lovely restuarant, bar, golf, fishing…….and a thistle maze and inside the festive brochure you can read all about their Christmas menus and hogmanay dinner dance. You can find out more about them on their website.
As a designer there’s nothing like being the middle of summer and designing festive images. That reminds me I better get on with my range of Christmas cards I’m going to produce!
